THE END OF ANOTHER SCHOOL YEAR!

The end of the school year is always filled with fun!  We have all had a great school year but we are excited for summer!

First I got to go with Memphis on his field trip.  They were supposed to go to the zoo in April but it got snowed out!  So sad.  So they rescheduled and we went to BYU.  We went to the life science museum with all the animals and then we went to the art exhibit which was origami...so cool.  They had tons of activities to keep them busy and of course I had to show Memphis the best hill to roll down.  What a fun day and I am so glad I could take the day off to go with Memphis.

Sadly Memphis' and Kayzee's graduations were on the same day at the same time!!!  Since Memphis' was having a big program and Kayzee will be attending the same school next year with the same graduation Danny and I decided to go to Memphis' kindergarten graduation.  We are so proud of Memphis and how far he has come this year.  He is so smart at everything and he is so polite and just a fun great kid and he loved his teacher.  We love you Memphis!  Congrats on being done with kindergarten. They had a program with singing and speaking parts about all they learned this year.  Memphis did awesome singing out and doing all the actions.  I recorded all the songs he sang so grandma's we will have to get together some time so you can watch them all!  Here is one part of a song he sang...

Then we went back to his classroom for diplomas and pictures and cookies.

After we went over to Lehi High School to Kayzee's school and they were just cleaning up from the preschool graduation so we snapped some pictures.  We will make sure to go to it next year because she will finally be done with preschool (she misses the kindergarten cut-off date by 2 days!!!)
We love you Kayzee.  Congrats on being such a great girl!  She is so polite and makes friends with everyone.  She is so smart (all ready for kindergarten) and we know she will succeed in everything she does.  She loved her teachers too.

After we got Kayzee we asked them what they wanted to do to celebrate.  They said the arcade and chuck-a-rama for lunch so that is what we did!
This last week of school has been filled with dance festival, kickball games, awards assemblies, field days, and a farewell luncheon for the teachers.  We are saying goodbye to our principal.  He has been my principal for the last 9 years and I will miss him!  He has helped me a lot and I appreciate all he has done for me in my career and for my family!  Good bye Mr. Jim Melville!

The specialty team...art, music, PE, computers!

Memphis did awesome with his dance festival dance!  Each grade level at my school does a dance and they practice and then there is a final performance for parents.  I took a video of one of his practices and his final performance but I am going to post part of his practice because he totally gets into it in one part it is so funny.  He is on the back row the 2nd one in from the right next to the boy in the white shirt.  Oh how I love my Memphis!  I also took a picture at the final performance:)

Now for summer!  We have tons of fun planned we are so excited!!!!!

I LOVE being a Mom!

Mother's day was wonderful this year!  I LOVE being a mom and I am so grateful for all the moms out there.  Especially grateful for my mom and mother-in-law.  I know they love and care about me and I love both of you too!!!  Thanks for all you have done and will do for me.

I LOVE my kids.  They cheer me up everyday and make me laugh.  They love being silly.  They really are great kids.  I am so lucky!  Danny and the kids spoiled me this year for Mother's Day.  I felt the love:)

Danny let me go to a scholastic warehouse sale (book heaven)!  I bought a ton of books to read for the summer.  I am excited.  We went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse.  They give all moms a carnation when you eat there for Mother's day.  Here we are being silly!

The kids also made me presents.  So sweet!  They were so excited with what they made me that they couldn't wait for me to open them so I opened them early!

Memphis drew a picture of me running!

The plate Memphis made for me:)
The necklace Kayzee made for me!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Spring Break and Beyond

The rest of April was way too much fun.  It flew by sadly but I am excited it's May because that means summer is near!

The first part of spring break I deep cleaned Memphis' room and the hall and stairs.  2 rooms behind but I can catch up this summer.  My mom flew in on Wednesday during spring break and we had fun shopping, going out to eat, and as always spending way too much money:)  That Saturday we drove her to Layton to meet her mom and sister and they took her on to Logan to stay for another week there.  Spring break is always much needed but it is also brutal because it's a taste of summer and we just didn't want to go back to school!

While my mom was in town she watched the kids so we could go car shopping!  Yes, we have had many many cars since I met Danny.  9 to be exact!!!!  Well, for the last 7 years Danny has been trying to convince me that we needed a van.  I struggled with the stereotype but then thinking about this summer of long road trips and needing to take extra people places I finally gave in and said I would look at them.  I was hooked and Danny told me I had to admit that HE IS RIGHT!  HA HA!  Ok, I LOVE my new van!  Fully loaded with tons of awesome extra features, I AM SPOILED.  The van is definitely a keeper.  Now to pay it off so that Danny can get a nice new truck!

My mom also got new spring outfits for her grandkids.  She sure loves to spoil them:)  My mom knitted the little yellow shrug for Kayzee's dress.  I LOVE it!

The Thursday after Spring Break my sister Alicia and her husband Fausto drove over from California.  He has never been to Utah so we showed him around and we had to take him to Porter's Place for scones!  My sister kept asking what the weather was going to be like.  I kept telling her sunny and nice but the day before they showed up it SNOWED!  Random short snow storm, typical utah weather.  It lasted long enough to play in it so the kids were excited.  Then it all melted in time for a nice weekend.

We all took Friday off of work and school and drove to Logan for the weekend.  First we all met at Maddox for lunch.  My dad, brother, and sister, drove down from Washington and met us there as well as my mom and grandma.  So fun to see my family again!

My sister Alicia announced to everyone that she was expecting her first baby!  I AM SO EXCITED!!!  Finally one of my siblings is having a baby!  Another reason Alicia came up was to take some of my baby stuff home with her.  YAY!  Friday night we went over to my aunt's house to my cousin's little girl's birthday.  PARTY HATS!

Saturday was the reason we went up to Logan.  It was my grandma's 80th birthday party!  HUGE turn out!  About 100 people.  It was such a nice way to celebrate my grandma's life.

 I got to help decorate
Some of my grandma's oil paintings.  I have been collecting a lot of her paintings.  They are all over my house now.  12!  I definitely got my artistic talent from her and my love of teaching.

Great grandkids sang her a song

(Side-note) Danny pointed this out to me that we drove up North every single weekend in April.  1st weekend up to Brigham City for Easter, 2nd weekend to Layton to drop off my mom, 3rd weekend to Logan for the party, and the 4th weekend to Bear Lake.  Danny was not too happy to travel that much but he joked that he had all the billboards memorized.

Yes we made a nice weekend trip up to Bear Lake to stay at my grandma's condo.  No one else wanted to use it so we invited our neighbor friends.  I kept checking the weather and it said rain and snow all weekend but we lucked out and it only rained during the night.  It was a little cold in the evenings but it was a great weekend!  We had fun swimming in the hot tub, going to Paris, Idaho for a hike and to see the little town, playing on the beach and playground, and just having fun with friends.

Also during April it was what my school calls dad and donuts.  Dads come to read with their child and have a donut.  Well, with the kindergartners they introduce the lunch room to them for when they go to first grade so they let them have a pizza lunch with their dad too.  Danny took off work early so he could go to school with Memphis.  My class during that time was on a field trip so I got to go have lunch with them too!  It was so fun! Too bad I didn't get a picture:(

I have been upping my running because I finally registered for a 5k on May 16th.  I am so excited!  I haven't run in a race since my 1/2 marathon in 2007.  Getting back into running has been hard but I really do love it!  Memphis joined me one evening and ran 2 miles with me!  It was awesome:)  Love my running buddy.

My mom also bought me a bunch of new books for my birthday so I have been enjoying reading!

Memphis being silly one day!

Memphis' class was practicing for the dance festival at the end of the year and I just happened to be on my lunch break so I snuck by and took a pic of him dancing.  He was hammin' it up he is so funny!

Now we only have one more month of school and then it's time for SUMMER!!!!
