September and a Project

A PROJECT
Before we finished our basement our front room was family central.  Our TV and couches were in there and we did everything in that room.  Since we finished the basement we put the TV downstairs with all the video game systems so I got to change the front room into a library/music/mudroom.  It is so much nicer!  The front room stays cleaner because we are not doing everything in there and the noise and screens are downstairs so yay!  We did the changes to the front room ourselves.  Eventually we want to change the flooring and maybe the paint color but for now we love it...

First the entryway...

BEFORE we had all our DVDs and hats and shoes collecting by the front door.  I really wanted a mudroom entryway with a bench and shoe bins and hooks to hang things and a shelf to decorate.  I sketched out an idea that I wanted and showed it to Danny and he said we could do it ourselves.  Danny is a fabricator at his work so I knew he could make the vision in my head look good.  And he had an excuse to buy new tools so he was excited ha ha!
Trip to Home Depot to buy all the supplies...
Spent an entire Saturday cutting all the wood and painting it all white and staining the top of the bench gray.
Starting to put it all together...Memphis decided to help

 Exactly what I wanted!!!
 Starting to decorate...
 FINISHED!
 WE LOVE IT!

This part of the front room was where the TV was and toys and books.  I really wanted the entire wall to be bookcases to hold the millions of books I have been collecting.  We looked at a store where you could have them custom build shelves to fit the space you need but that was $700!  We decided to see about buying our own wood and making our own shelves but it was $600 and I would have to paint it.  We were just looking at Walmart and they had a bookcase that was the color we wanted.  We checked the measurements and 4 bookcases fit exactly along the wall we wanted.  And they were $50 each so $200 later we saved a lot of money and time!!!

BEFORE
AFTER can you tell I LOVE to read?  I have read all these books and plenty more at the library!
We use to have a couch and treadmill by the bay window but now we have a chair and the piano
We also have the couch and we put a desk for homework in the corner.    WE LOVE OUR NEW FRONT ROOM!

SEPTEMBER

Our Kayzee turned 7 on the 4th!  It fell on Labor Day so we celebrated as a family and she chose Pizza Pie Cafe and roller skating.  Kayzee is so full of drama but oh so sweet.  She is obsessed with Littlest Pet Shop, riding her bike, and playing with her friends.  We love our beautiful Kayzee Lynn!
Starting to open presents from family
During the week after her birthday we had a birthday party that she could invite all her friends too.  10 girls and 2 boys showed up and it was a little crazy but she had so much fun!  She decorated her own cake.
She wanted to play Just Dance with her friends first.  She had a shimmer and shine theme party with lots of games.
 Cake and ice cream.
 Opening presents...
That weekend after Kayzee ended up with Croup.  She missed 3 days of school it was so awful.  She had her 7 year well-check-up already scheduled so we killed two birds with one stone and the doctor was so surprised that a 7 year old had croup because it usually hits younger kids.  He gave her a shot of steroids but it still took her about a week to finally feel back to normal.  We also found out she is 48 lbs and 48 inches tall...fun growth number!
We spent a lot of time in the steamy bathroom.  It was the only way she could breathe easily.
Danny put on a 5K for our stake and had a bike parade for the kids.  Memphis and Kayzee led the pack!
 Popsicles afterwards!
We decided to tackle our garage.  It had all the junk and stuff we have collected that was in the basement.  I really don't want to park outside another winter so it motivated me to get it done.  We took 3 truckloads to the dump, and 3 truckloads to DI to donate, and a truckload went to family.  WOW we had a ton of stuff just taking up space.  So glad we decluttered our house.

We have still been going on dates every weekend.  One weekend I took Memphis to the arcade and out to dinner.  Danny took Kayzee mini golfing and to dinner.  After we all met up for ice cream.

This conversation happened while me and Memphis were on our dinner date and he got a cheese quesadilla...Memphis who loves cheese and wants it for every meal...
Me: "Memphis, is cheese your most favoritist thing in the whole world?"
Memphis: "No mom, you are!"
AWWWWW  LOVE my Memphis!
LOVE my Kayzee too and her toothless grin:)
The kids had their 6th month check up.  Both my kids floss, brush, and use mouthwash and yet Memphis has had 0 cavities and Kayzee is going on #16!!!!!!!!  What the heck!  Sometimes life just isn't fair.  I feel so bad for her.  In the past we did all her fillings by knocking her out she she slept through it all.  But it costs so much money to do that and now that she is older the dentist suggested laughing gas instead.  We go the end of October.  Hopefully she does well.  It makes me nervous because she has such bad anxiety.  Ugh.
Danny decided to shave off all his facial hair.  I hate it when he does that because it makes him look 10 years younger than me.  Baby face!  Glad it grows back and he doesn't do it very often.
I have Beachbody On Demand.  I pay a yearly fee to access ALL the workout programs they have in their company.  It's awesome!  100s of workouts from different trainers and I can access them from my TV, computer, and phone so it makes working out easy.  June I finished the You V2 program.  Easy program to start with.  July I tried Country Heat.  Easy and fun if you like country line dancing!
I took August off but September I did Turbo Jam.  Favorite so far!  I love kickboxing and the turbo intense minutes she works in.  I definitely sweated a lot!
August was enjoying my last days of summer and then the start of school is always crazy.  September my goal was to close all my fitness goal circles at least 4 days a week and eat on plan and I did it!  I lost 13 pounds and 11 inches over all.  Now for October I am going to shoot for 5 days a week!
Memphis and Kayzee are growing up and while it makes me sad that it's going by so fast it is kinda nice sometimes.  Lately the kids have been getting up before me and they get themselves dressed and feed themselves breakfast all before I wake up.  I am usually hitting my snooze a million times and then the kids are yelling at me to get up so we are not late for school.  I am sure this will all change when they become teenagers right?!?

Fun at Walmart...

Nephew James turned 9 months!  Wish I could see him before he grows up too fast.
Can't believe it's already October!

August

The beginning of August we had our Royer/Christensen family reunion.  We paid tribute to Danny's Grandparents that live in Brigham City.  We got a picture with all of Danny's siblings that could come.  We are only missing one brother and his wife and little girl that live in Tennessee and couldn't make it.

This summer I decided to make sure I went on some one-on-one dates with my kids.  Kayzee is our social butterfly and has a million friends so we set up some play dates so I could take Memphis out.  We had so much fun playing laser tag (we couldn't stop laughing), snow cones, pizza pie cafe, shopping, arcade, and playing at a park.

Me and Danny got to go out on a few dates too this summer.
Memphis had summer school every morning for a few weeks the beginning of August so that was perfect timing for me and Kayzee to go out on some dates.  Arcade, pizza pie, snow cones, shopping, and playing at a park.

We have officially started a new tradition in our family.  Every Saturday we go on different dates to spend more one-on-one time with each other.  1st Sat: Memphis and Daddy go out together and Mommy and Kayzee go out and do something.  2nd Sat: Mommy and Danny go out while the kids play with a babysitter.  3rd Sat: Kayzee and Daddy; Mommy and Memphis.  4th Sat: we go out and do something fun as a whole family.  We have already started and have loved this new idea so far!

We had a great summer watching Danny play on his Fast-Pitch Baseball Team.  His team took 2nd place in the Tournament!  He hit a couple Home Runs.  Fun to watch!

Thanksgiving Point has $2 Tuesdays and we took advantage of it and went to a few museums.  I always wonder why because it is so crowded but we had so much fun because we went with our bestest friends the Hoge's!  Dinosaur museum...

 Shark Bait...

Memphis passed off all the requirements to receive his rank advancement and received his Wolf Badge in Scouts!!!  So proud of him.

Another $2 Tuesday Museum with Hoge's.  Curiosity Museum...

The day before I went back to work I put kids to bed and then later heard Kayzee crying.  I went in to check on her and she was holding this picture of me and her.  She was so sad that I was going back to work and leaving her.  Broke my heart but I am so glad that both my kids are in school full-time now and go to my school so I can see them every day!!!
My parents were so nice and came down to watch my kids for me while I went back to school for teacher meetings.  They took the kids to This Is The Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake.  They also got to tag along for Back to School Night and meet Memphis' and Kayzee's teachers.  We all went out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse after.  YUM!
My parents then left to go up to my aunt and uncle's house in Idaho Falls to see the Eclipse.  It was a full eclipse there so they got to see the complete thing.  We could only see a partial (about 80-90%) eclipse at our house but it was still cool to see.  The kids thought it was cool too!
Weird picture of the eclipse with my camera...
School officially started on August 22!  Here is Memphis on his first day of 3rd grade with Mrs. Dibb.  She is so wonderful and Memphis is enjoying 3rd grade so far!
Kayzee is so lucky she gets TWO first grade teachers.  Mrs. Clements and Mrs. Astorga team teach.  One teaches reading and writing in the morning and the other teaches math and social studies/science in the afternoon.  They are so sweet and Kayzee is enjoying school so far.  It's hard going all day when you are not use to it but I am enjoying eating lunch with her once a week.  Now if only her legs and tummy would stop waking her up in the middle of the night we all might be a little bit happier with more sleep.  She goes to the doctor tomorrow so we will see what he thinks.
This is my 13th year of teaching!!!  11th year of teaching PE.  This could be a bad year if you are superstitious but I have decided that this is going to be the year I am not sick at all!  HA HA!  I started a new health program so hopefully that helps.  I have a suspicion that there is mold in my office from when the roof leaked really bad for the past 10 years because I wasn't sick at all the entire summer and I go back to work in my office to get ready for school and I instantly get sick with respiratory junk.  So annoying!  Hopefully we get it figured out soon!
James is growing and getting so big!  Such a cute little chunk!
We started a new after school routine this year and so far it is going really well!  We do 30 minutes of homework, 30 minutes of piano and chores, and 30 min of movement.  The kids love Just Dance and also riding their bikes all over the neighborhood and the park by our house.  They know they can't earn screens till everything else is done so they get right to it.  Yay!
I found out that I won a free 3 night stay in the Family Suite at Ideal Beach Resort at Bear Lake and I am so EXCITED!!!!!  All I did was fill out a survey about my stay in their motel last June and they drew my name.  WOOT WOOT!  They called me and we have it scheduled for June.  It sleeps 16 people so we can invite other people to go with us!  My favorite summer vacation...
Memphis and Danny were throwing sandals back and forth over the half wall that separates the front room and the kitchen.  They got one stuck and this is how they decided to get it down.  They found a bunch of toys up there too.  Should have given Memphis a duster while he was up there!  Boys:)
I always forget how exhausting the first couple weeks of teaching are.  I go from a lazy summer to waking up early, working all day and trying to keep up with my own kids after school.  WHEW!  I have been in bed by 9pm every night so far.  It doesn't help that Kayzee isn't sleeping well but I know I will get used to it.

And last but not least our little Max!!!  From 2 lbs to 2 years.  Still can't believe this miracle baby turned 2 years old on August 29th! He is just the cutest nephew and I love and miss him all the time. He is hitting all his milestones like a champ you would never know that he was born 13 weeks early. Happiest of Birthdays Max!!!  Such a cutie!  Love his smile:)
