Thanksgiving Adventures

We have had a crazy Thanksgiving AS USUAL.  It seems like the Thanksgivings we travel someone gets really sick or hurt so Danny and I have decided that next year we are going to stay home by ourselves for Thanksgiving.  That way maybe no one will be sick or hurt and we won't get others sick!  HA!

We traveled to Logan to spend Thanksgiving at my grandma's house with my family and some of my mom's side of the family.  Here is a picture of Kayzee on the way there and some pictures of the temp getting colder and colder as we drove through the canyon.  -1!!!!
Thanksgiving was spent eating (ok pigging out:), taking naps, eating too much pie, and playing games (good laughs).  It was a good day!  That night the real adventure began.

Memphis had been sick with a really high fever Mon and Tue but he seemed fine on Wed so we decided it was ok to go to Logan.  My family had been watching my kids while I went to work Mon and Tue so they all ended up with sore throats, fevers, and coughs.  SORRY FAMILY!!!

Thursday night I was up all night with Kayzee who cried all night, wouldn't lay down, and had a fever.  My mom helped so I could get a couple hours of sleep.  A fever in a 2 1/2 month old is never good so i knew I needed her to be looked at.  Memphis woke up with a fever so we all piled in the car and made a trip to the Insta Care in Logan.  Kayzee has an ear infection so she is on antibiotics.  Memphis had a more traumatic experience.  He had to have his throat swabbed and had to have chest x-rays.  The way they held him down (or should I say hung him) so he would be absolutely still was the hardest thing for him.  He has strep throat, a sinus infection, and the infection was starting in his lungs.  He is on antibiotics too.  Such a sad day for all:(  We left Logan early and we all went to bed for the weekend.

So our kids have been to an emergency room over Thanskgiving but so have Danny and I.  When I was in college I went to Logan for Thanksgiving and woke up in the middle of the night with a high fever (105!), not being able to breathe and the most painful sore throat I have ever had.  My aunt and grandma took me to the Insta Care where they took x-rays and I ended up going to the hospital where a specialist looked me over and said I had a rare disease called laryangotracheitis (spelling?).   A couple years later I got it again and ended up ambulance driven to be hospitalized.  It is rare in adults and even more rare to get it more than once.  I AM JUST COOL LIKE THAT!

A couple years ago when Danny was meeting my dad's side of the family for the first time up in Washington during Thanksgiving he ended up in the emergency room.  He had been up all night with extreme eye pain.  The doctor found a few flecks of metal in his eye and it had started to rust.  They had to drill it out!!!  So ya he met my family all drugged up.

Since it is Thanksgiving, I just wanted to say that I am so THANKFUL for all the doctors and nurses who worked the holiday so that we could all get taken care of.  I am also so THANKFUL for both sides of my family, for their help, and especially for our little family of four!!!  My life would not be complete without them.

So needless to say we are going to try staying home next year!  I am thinking happy thoughts right now so that I don't get sick (I don't think it's working:( and I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

Kayzee's Baby Blessing

We blessed Kayzee on Sunday.  What a wonderful day filled with friends and family, all to celebrate our precious Kayzee!  Danny gave a beautiful blessing (he said it helped that she wasn't crying like Memphis did).  I played a piano solo (Our Savior's Love).  Then we went back to our house to PARTY!  We had about 50 people show up.  Our house was crowded but we had a great time visiting.  THANKS to all who brought treats and for coming to Kayzee's blessing:)  Danny's family made it up from Blanding.  Memphis LOVED playing with his aunts (as usual).  My family made it from Washington.  Our grandparents, cousins, and friends all made it too.  THANKS again to all!

My mom hand-sewed Kayzee's blessing dress.  She had brought the dress that I was blessed in but it was too small for my little chunky baby:)  The dress is beautiful---THANKS MOM!  Here are pictures and I have also posted pictures of Memphis in his cute little suit.  I got some adorable pictures of Kayzee smiling:) and there is a picture of Kayzee sleeping with her aunt Nita!
Memphis has been so sick for the past two weeks.  Last week he was throwing up for 4 days.  Don't know why.  He didn't have a fever and he just could not keep any food or liquids down.  I think he drank some spoiled milk left in a sippy cup so I threw it away and bought a new one.  That was my first experience with endless laundry caused by a little boy not being able to tell me when he felt sick.  There was just no warning!  By the last day Memphis would point to his tummy and I would get him to the kitchen so all I had to do was mop it up.  Poor little guy.  This week after everyone left he got a high fever of 102 and had it for 3 days.  He just slept a lot.  Today he finally looked like he was feeling a little better.  Hopefully he is done being sick for awhile.  NO FUN!

We are now getting ready to go to Logan for Thanksgiving at my grandma's house.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Little Miss Chubby Cheeks!

Kayzee is 2 months old!  She is growing and developing 2 months ahead of the average baby according to the doctor.  She is 12 lbs and 24 in long.  Memphis weighed the same at 2 months but Kayzee is still an inch taller!  She can hold her head up really well and she is all smiles and cooing.  Enduring the last 2 months with constant crying has made this last week all worth it:)  She is so happy and she is sleeping through the night!  Average sleep schedule is 9:30pm to anywhere between 5:30 and 7:30am.  I AM LOVING IT!  Here are some pictures of Miss Kayzee smiling with her chubby cheeks:)  AND of course I can't post pictures of Kayzee without posting some of Memphis too...

YES it is really hard leaving my adorable children when I have to work!

Mommies how do you get your little boys to keep their ties on?

AND YES Memphis needs a haircut but I just can't cut off those adorable red curls:)

Bedroom Project

So I finally finished decorating my kid's rooms.  I found some wooden letters to put their names up on their walls and painted them to match.  Kayzee's room used to be my music/scrapbook room so I moved my piano downstairs and added all her bedroom stuff.

MEMPHIS
Planes, trains, trucks, and toys,
there's nothing like a little boy.

KAYZEE
I love and collect fairies so my mom made the fairy quilt on her wall.  I also inherited my grandma Thorpe's dresser.  Didn't fit in our master bedroom so Kayzee got it.
Thank heaven for little girls
Still have a desk in her room for my scrapbooking

Halloween at home!

Memphis woke up Saturday morning with a really bad cough and runny nose so we missed all the Halloween fun this year.  Living in Utah Halloween was celebrated on Saturday.  But---I did of course have to put my kids in their costumes so I could take pictures!  ENJOY---Memphis picked out his costume, he LOVES Toy Story:)  I couldn't really find anything cute for Kayzee being so young so she is just a pea pod.  Can't wait for next year...

PICTURES!!!

It has been a month since I posted last!  Time is sure going way too fast.  Kayzee is now 6 weeks old and I have to go back to work on Nov. 1st.  NOT READY!  I have a ton of pictures of our kids this past month so I just thought I would post them.

MEMPHIS
Memphis is almost 21 months old.  He is wild and crazy as ever.  He now goes down the stairs on his stomach head first.  Still need to get a picture of that.  Danny's cousin moved so we have his kid's little dirt bike in our garage and Memphis will go out and play on it any chance he gets.  He makes the sounds and Danny has taken him on a few rides.  Memphis can now open doors so we put child proof door knobs on all the doors.  Now if I could only find some way to lock the fridge door!  He says "Hi Kayzee" or "Hi sister" it is so cute:)  If he is playing with something he knows he shouldn't be he will hide.  SUCH A BOY!  He understands us but he can't talk very well yet so he gets upset if we can't figure out what he wants.  But he is so fun right now, gives me kisses, and runs and hugs his daddy when he gets home from work.  Still loves to dance and loves playing hide and seek.  One of the pictures is of a hat Danny found for Memphis (here comes trouble) that fits him perfectly!  This first picture is my favorite of him!  It is the picture that I had taken at my school picture day.  He has the cutest cheeser!  LOVE MY BOY...

KAYZEE
Kayzee is growing up so fast!  Almost 7 weeks old.  I took her to the doctor and he said she could pass as a 3 month old physically and developmentally!  Memphis was the same but Kayzee is bigger than he was ha ha!  I guess my kids develop fast.  Wonder if Kayzee will walk at 9 months like Memphis did.  Kayzee is not doing so well right now.  Memphis sure spoiled me being a good baby and sleeping through the night at two weeks old.  Kayzee is having some intestinal problems but she is still growing way too fast.  CHUBBY CHEEKS!!!  She only sleeps 3-4 hours at night and maybe once a week she will sleep 6 hours.  For her daytime naps she has to be held or on her stomach so she has to be watched.  When she is awake she has to be held.  At night she cries painfully for 2-4 hours.  Our pediatrician said there is nothing we can do for her.  I have tried many things!  Though one thing that does make her happy is bath time!  She just smiles away:)  The doctor said hopefully she grows out of this painful crying phase fast.  I am tired every day and hopefully I do well going back to work and both my kids do ok going to daycare.  I just don't want to leave them, wish I didn't have to work, but I do need and miss my job and playing with all my students!
Kayzee is just precious and to me she just feels like she belongs and was meant to be in our family.  She just fits:)  This first picture is the picture I had taken at my school picture day a month ago.  She had just woken up from a nap.  I also had to post pictures of her with her grandmas! The rest of the pictures are of her at 6 weeks old.  LOVE MY GIRL...

BLANDING
This last weekend we took our first long road trip since having a new baby and drove down to Blanding to hang out with Danny's family.  Both kids did so well in the car for 5 hours.  Kayzee slept the whole way and Memphis took an hour nap and watched movies the rest of the way.  Memphis had fun playing with his grandparents and aunts and uncle!  Kayzee loved snuggling with everyone too!  I had one rough night.  Memphis decided to wake up screaming at midnight and then he stayed awake playing till 5:30am.  I was so exhausted and then Kayzee woke up at 6am to eat.  I only got 3 hours of sleep that night so I tried to get naps in the next day.  When we got home Memphis ran straight for his bed and fell asleep.  That night he slept 12 hours and Kayzee slept 7 hours!!!  The longest she has ever slept since being born.  Needless to say it was heaven for me to sleep that long:)
We had great weather while we were down there and spent some time at recapture dam boating, fishing, having hot dogs and s'mors over a campfire, and skipping or throwing rocks.  Memphis even got to steer the boat!  He did a crazy job ha ha:)  This first picture is of Memphis' favorite hiding place while we were there.  The rest are of our lake time.
