January flew by of course. And now I have an 8 year old...
January was a very snowy month. Which is great because Utah definitely needed it, but it was also FREEZING! We went sledding one day with Danny's brother and his wife and their son. My kids also just love going outside and playing in it. I am thankful for our new snow plow my grandpa gave us and a nice warm bed to read in during the cold days.
Danny had to work a couple of Saturdays this month because they were so behind at his work. He was working 60 hour weeks!!!!!!!! Crazy and exhausting but the overtime paychecks were AWESOME ha ha. Sorry babe.
Kayzee and Memphis were fighting one day (if you ask Memphis they were just having bad attitudes toward each other) and Memphis slammed Kayzee's finger in our master bedroom door. Blood everywhere, she is lucky the tip of her finger didn't come off. I wanted to take her in to get looked at but Danny just came home and super glued it. She didn't use that finger for about 2 weeks and so far the finger nail hasn't fallen off like it did when it got smashed before (yes this has happened before poor girl).
A week later...
Some exciting news...
We FINALLY started on our basement!!! It has been our storage (junk collector) for the past 7 years so we had to clean it out first. Then we got quotes from several contractors. Our favorite choice just disappeared and stopped communicating with us. Don't know why. We ended up going with the contractor who was state certified and had great reviews on HomeAdvisor. So far he has been good. Just slow but we expected it to be a slow process.
BEFORE with all the junk...now all the junk is in the garage so I have to park outside.
AFTER it was all cleaned out and ready for the contractor to start framing...
We found a foundation leak in a corner during all these snowstorms. Not too bad just glad we caught it so we can fix it before it is completely finished. Whoever did the plumbing under the foundation did it in a weird way so we had to wait longer and pay more (of course) to get that figured out and moved to the right places.
Framing materials delivered...
We were going to get a jetted tub but then found out we also have to replace our water heater. Ours is so old not working well and out of code and not big enough for what we need so we are just going with a soaker tub/shower combo instead. The tub and water heater were supposed to arrive today but of course they didn't. But framing, electrical, heating, and plumbing are done. YAY! PROGRESS!

My sister Annalyn's baby James is growing up and I am getting excited to go see him in April. He is a cutie...
MEMPHIS TURNED 8!!!!
I can't believe I have an 8 year old. Memphis is my best buddy. I just love his tender heart and that he loves learning about new things. He loves Legos, Minecraft, YouTube, and anything that has to do with outer space. He is a smart 2nd grader HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEMPHIS!
*I have been praying for Memphis to have his own experience with the holy ghost and prayer to help him know that the decision he made to get baptized was the right decision. One day he came in to me crying. I had no idea what had happened. Memphis told me they were tears of joy and then explained what happened. He had lost an expensive tablet. He said he looked everywhere. He had no idea where he had lost it so he decided to pray for help to find it. He said as soon as he finished his prayer Heavenly Father told him where to look and sure enough it was there. His tears of joy were of gratitude to Heavenly Father and the Holy Ghost helping him. So grateful for my sweet boy. He truly is one of the greatest blessings in my life and he always knows how to cheer me up when I have bad days. LOVE MY MEMPHIS!
8 is a big milestone and Memphis has loved everything about it. He started scouts (he loves it). We went out to eat at all his favorite restaurants Arby's and Chuck-a-rama. He got to take his favorite Daylight Donuts to school to share with his class. And Memphis made the decision to get baptized so we had a huge party with lots of family and friends to celebrate!
We had lots of family travel from all over to come help Memphis celebrate his big baptism day. We also had lots of friends come too. 58 were invited to the big day and we had so much fun. We are so grateful for our wonderful family and friends coming to show their love and support.
Because we don't have a livable basement our family from out of town had to find other places to sleep. My parents came from Washington and got a hotel with an indoor pool so of course we had to go swimming one day!
The night before the baptism I went to the church we had reserved and decorated. I am so not a party planner or crafty decorator. I hate doing big parties but I knew this was a special day for Memphis so I did my best ha ha. My best friend Amy (who is amazing at parties) helped me so it turned out much better. THANKS AMY!
I thought up the idea of having something Memphis loved at every table. I think it turned out cute.

I ordered most of the food so it was ready for the big day (less stressful that way so I didn't have to make anything) and everyone was so nice and brought sides and drinks and paper products. Thanks to everyone for their help! Memphis had a stake baptism but he was the only one from our ward so it was more personal. Our ward and primary are awesome and helped make it a special occasion. I was also asked to be in charge of a special musical number during the stake part of the baptism. My sister-in-laws are amazingingly talented so I played the piano while they sang. We did a different rendition of I Know that My Redeemer Lives. Beautiful. Thanks Nita, Emily, and Mary.

Our family all had to leave to get back home Saturday night or Sunday morning so no one went to church with us. Memphis got to sit with the Bishop up on the stand at church. He loved that. Danny and I bore our testimonies (which we haven't done in forever) too bad our family missed it ha ha.
Memphis had his 8 year well-check-up with his Pediatrician. No more booster seat (finally!) and holy moly he is a fast growing boy. He weighs 84 pounds (hulk) and is 4 and 1/2 feet tall! His vision is 20/20 (big relief) and the best news has been the decision to get his tonsils out. Memphis was sick 1-2 times a month before they came out and since they have been taken out (last July) he has not been sick a single day. Coolest thing ever and so glad we made that decision even though the recovery was awful. Memphis was given some great tips to eat well and he has started running on the treadmill everyday. Gotta start good healthy habits now to keep him in shape. GO MEMPHIS!
The pediatrician always gives his patients a free ice cream cone coupon at JCW's for their birthday. We always have to go get it after the appointment to celebrate. What a great start to the new year we have had!
