What do you want to be when you grow up? My son wants to be Purple!

Aleena: "Memphis, what is your favorite color?"
Memphis: "Blue?" (he said it like a question so I don't know if he was just saying a color or what)

A: "What is your favorite toy?"
M: "Choo choo train track, mommy let's go play!" (yes, we went and played with his train track for awhile)

A: "What is your favorite fruit?"
M: "Nanas...ummm..." (points to his head: means he is thinking) "ya nanas!" (I was actually surprised he knew what a fruit was:)

A: "What is your favorite TV show?"
M: "Einsteins...Rocket!"  (Little Einsteins)

A: "What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch?"
M: "Chicken knucks!!!" (nuggets)

A: "What is your favorite thing to wear?"
M: "Clothes" (I knew he would say that, he does not like to be naked)

A: "What is your favorite game?"
M: "Gamepad" (means any game on the ipad)

A: "What is your favorite snack?"
M: "Goldfish"

A: "What is your favorite animal?"
M: "Puppy, ruff ruff, Kitty, meow...Mommy pet me" (after he said this he started acting like both of them and Kayzee came over and starting petting him!)

A: "What is your favorite song?"
M: "doing, pockcorn, spider, twinkle star" (means: Do as I'm Doing, Popcorn popping, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star) ( He then sang all the songs and did all the actions.  This is part of his bedtime routine because he LOVES to sing songs)

A: "What is your favorite book?"
M: "Find" (means any look and find book)

A: "Who is your best friend?"
M: "Kayzee" (awww...don't know if he really meant to say his sister or if he knew what the question meant but hey, they get along most of the time:)

A: "What is your favorite cereal?"
M: "Ummm...no" (he never wants to eat any)

A: "What is your favorite thing to do outside?"
M: "Slide at park!"

A: "What is your favorite drink?"
M: "Juice"

A: "What is your favorite holiday?"
M: "Presents" (Obviously any holiday he gets presents)

A: "What do you like to sleep with at night?"
M: "Blue blankie" (his soft fuzzy blue blanket he has had since he was born)

A: "What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?"
M: "Poptart"

A: "What do you want for dinner on your birthday?"
M: "Pizza and ice cream"

A: "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
M: "Purple" (I don't know why but he kept saying purple when I asked him this question so I tried rephrasing it)
A: "What do you want to be when you are big like daddy?"
M: (he looked over at his daddy and said...) "Game" ( I think he only said this because he likes to play the games on his daddy's phone)

I got this idea from pinterest.  Every year on your child's birthday you ask them these questions (starting at age 3) and then you can see how their answers change.  I just wanted to do it because I wanted to see how Memphis would answer these questions with his little 3 year old brain.  He did do better at understanding than I thought he would.

Also just an update on Memphis and his droopy eyelid I mentioned in my last post.  I finally remembered the name: ptosis.  We went in to see a pediatric eye specialist at the Timpanogos Hospital and I was really just nervous as to how Memphis would act (Kayzee stayed with our babysitter so I could focus all my attention on Memphis) (I thought Memphis would run around like his crazy self and not follow any directions so they could really examine him) and to my surprise he was so GOOD!  He did exactly what the doctor said and he could answer all the questions and he sat really still for him.

First they handed him a piece of paper with a bunch of pictures on it and they had him say what each picture was.  Then they put the same pictures up on the far wall so that they were really tiny and he said every picture correctly.  They had him put an eye patch on so they could test each eye far away and he started singing "Yo Ho Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me" (The doctor said that was the first time a kid has ever acted like a pirate let alone sang a pirate song...what can I say, my son is cool like that:)

He could identify every picture except for the very last on on the far right.  The doctor didn't know if this was because of his droopy eyelid or because he was finally just distracted and didn't want to do the test anymore.  So we held him down and they put drops in to dilate his eyes.  He didn't cry even though they said it would hurt.  We had to wait 45 min so Memphis put on his cool new sunglasses and drove down the street and Memphis ordered himself an ice cream cone at Sonic:)

Then we went back and the doctor did an actual eye exam with all his cool gadgets.  The doctor didn't really know what to say about Memphis.  He said that ptosis only happens if there is something else wrong that is causing it or the eyelid is causing other problems.  He said Memphis's eyes were PERFECT!!!  Nothing wrong at all.  He had never seen anything like this before so he told me he was going to go to a pediatric eye conference and he would present Memphis's case and see if any other pediatric eye specialists in the nation could help us out.  Wow!  Proud momma moment.  My son is famous among eye specialists ;)

A few days after Memphis's eye exam I noticed that his eye lid was only drooping once a day or not at all!  I was hoping that meant it was just going away on its own but I still waited for the doctor's call.  He called me on Friday and told me that the other specialists said to video tape it and bring in the videos so he could watch the eyelid drooping himself and then maybe he could figure things out from there.  I told him ok and that it wasn't drooping as much anymore if at all and he got excited and said if it stopped then we had nothing to worry about!  Maybe his eyelid muscles were just tired or needed strengthened.    YAY!  And his eyelid has not drooped since Friday so hopefully I can just write this down as a great new experience for motherhood and I am sure great new experiences are sure to come as my children grow up.
