Memphis and Kayzee learned how to blow bubbles with their bubble gum!
I had to go on another antibiotic because the first one wasn't getting rid of my strep. This happens to me every time. They had to start over with the antibiotics and I am trying them all again. I went and got a bunch of blood work done and my dr said I am perfectly healthy. Well, minus the mono and strep. He said the repeated strep was because I had mono. I guess they go together. I told him I better not get strep anymore once my mono was gone. Here's hoping it never comes back!
Our basement slowly got finished. Our contractor told me 6-8 weeks when he started Jan 23. I was told to add 2 weeks so I was hoping it would be done by my spring break in April. Nope. Then he kept giving me new finish dates and he still didn't finish by those. He didn't even answer his phone for a couple of weeks and since we hadn't finished paying him I was ready to change the locks and finish it ourselves. Finally 16 weeks later our basement was finished. Here are some pics of the finishing progress. Final finished pictures in another post. I am still decorating!
We got a new and bigger water heater. It is so nice to be able to have the kids each take a bath and me and Danny shower all in the same 1/2 hour and not run out of hot water. And it fills our new soaker tub. I am loving bubble baths!
New silver doorknobs but he put on gold hinges so we waited for forever for him to replace the hinges with silver.
Vanity in, no toilet yet.
New soaker tub and shower. YAY!
My nephew James is just growing up and getting cuter each day.
Memphis was in a play with all of the 2nd grade classes. It was the Lemonade Play. Memphis knew I was recording it for Danny who couldn't make it so Memphis was totally hamming it up.
Kayzee lost her first tooth! She was so excited for the tooth fairy however I think Memphis was more excited. He was up an hour before her the next morning wondering why she wasn't waking up to see what the tooth fairy brought her. Ha! Kayzee has lost the other bottom tooth now and her two top teeth are loose. Pretty soon she will not have any teeth to eat with!
Mother's day was great. On the Saturday before I went to the scholastic warehouse sale with my sister-in-law Emily. We have gone two years in a row now. It's bad how many books I buy but I need books to read all summer right?!
After buying all those books we went to Danny's brother's house and had lunch. Then everyone took off to go swimming but I stayed behind to take a nap. Mono was still kicking my butt. Then I read till they came home. After we all went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner (tradition) and then went shopping for furniture for our new basement and a new TV. It was a fun was to celebrate Mother's day. I love being a mom to these two cuties of mine...
Memphis made me this cute pot holder.
Kayzee made me a plate. Awwww....
Memphis had Dad's and Donuts at school awhile ago but I just finally got the pic.
Some of Memphis' classmates brought their horses to school and let the class go for rides.
Memphis started baseball again. Danny and I are coaching again and most of the team is made up of my PE students. It's so fun. Here is Memphis at his first practice...
We have had two games now and our team has done really well. We won our first game (not supposed to keep score oops) but the games are way more fun now that we are actually playing on a real baseball diamond with more of the real rules. This year is Machine Pitch. Memphis is so good at getting a hit every time he is up to bat but his running is another story. He doesn't really run he clomps so he has gotten out at first a couple times. But he loves baseball so we will keep playing!
Kayzee had Kindergarten graduation!!! What?!? She is growing up way too fast. They had a program and then we went back to her classroom for diplomas. So cute!
This was a song about being nice and being a friend to everyone...
With her cap on...
Getting her diploma...
Way to go Kayzee!
Kayzee is such a smartie pants and I am so proud of her. She has had a great year!
Daddy is proud too!
Kayzee has loved her teacher Mrs. Jensen and Mrs. Jensen loved Kayzee.
I was walking down the school hall when I saw this paper art Kayzee did of herself graduating (class of 2029!) and I had to put it next to her graduation picture they had taken. Time will go by so fast and then she will be graduating from High School. Stop growing up!
After the graduation we checked out Memphis early from school and we went to Chuck-a-rama for lunch. Then we went to Home Depot to get some stuff for the house. I looked over and caught Memphis and Kayzee in the cart like this...
So the weather was crazy and pretty much awful because it snowed the 2nd to last week of school...
The 2nd to last week of school I missed the whole week because I had tried so hard to make it through school with mono but I just couldn't any more. I slept all week and went back for the last week of school finally feeling better. When I got back to school I found letters from students all over my desk. Totally made my day!
The last week of school is so fun! We have dance festival, kickball game 6th grade vs. faculty, field day, and of course the last day of school. I love teaching at the same school as my kids. I was able to be there for all of the fun. Here is field day...
Kayzee made the cutest "gummy bear"
and Memphis was on "fire"
And the last day of school finally arrived...
Kayzee had her last day of Kindergarten the day before Memphis and I did. Lucky!
So many people have asked me if I am sad my baby is growing up. I am actually so excited for her to move on to 1st grade because that means no more day care for my kids. That has been the single most hardest thing I have had to go through in my life---being a working mom and having someone else watch my kids grow up. Even harder than me being sick all the time, my heart broke each and every day I had to drop my kids off with someone else. But I am so grateful for everyone who has watched my kids over the years and I know they loved them and for that my heart is happy
Have to get pictures of my kids with their teachers. Teachers are the best and I am so grateful my kids have gotten the best teachers! I am so grateful for all their hard work and for loving my kids.
Mrs. Jensen and Kayzee Kindergarten!
Memphis has had a rough year getting into trouble a lot and not getting his work done on time but he has grown up a lot too so hopefully next year will be better.
Memphis and Mrs. Cox 2nd grade!
Now it's summer and we are loving every second of it! I love spending all day every day with my two kiddos. Summer fun has officially begun!
